Why we’re hiring
Studio Modh Architecture is an award winning, Brooklyn based architecture firm that produces carefully crafted, contemporary architecture for institutional and residential clients. We are looking for a new collaborator to take on a senior position within the studio to work in parallel with the principal and associates to design, manage, and execute projects. This position is for an architect who seeks a hands-on approach in design, client-engagement, construction, and the operation of a small studio where tasks are rich and varied.
The Position
The firm is driven by a generalist architectural philosophy. Everyone within the studio is expected and encouraged to take on many tasks.
Continuity is important to the production of quality projects. Staff stay on projects from start to finish, learning all aspects of the client, design, and construction processes.
The Senior Architect position will facilitate management and input on multiple projects, assisting less experienced staff in design, problem solving, and critique. The Senior Architect will be responsible for running two projects at a time with a staff to assist in the execution of documentation. The Senior Architect will work directly with the principal to develop design concepts and communicate with the client and contractor groups.
Where we are going
The studio wants to elevate staff who show leadership and judgment to the level of associate and eventually expand the practice to include additional Partners. This position is intended to facilitate elevation to the associate level within a short period of time if the staff member exhibits the skill, knowledge, and temperament required. We intend to continue to grow our practice to take on larger, more complex challenges with an ultimate size of 20-30 architects, designers, and staff.
Our Current Work
The studio works in many different markets including commercial, non-profit, higher education, institutional, residential renovation, and single family ground up construction. Periodically, the studio works with larger institutions on concept and master plan studies including recently with Princeton University, the University of Pennsylvania, the Smithsonian Institution, and other higher education and institutional venues. Current work includes a Passive House in Northern Pennsylvania, a new exhibition and research forum for a medical school, new offices for university clients, a factory rehabilitation for a digital media company, and a new food hub and culinary center for a non-profit food organization in Brooklyn.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Studio Modh believes that a variety of voices, experiences, and perspectives makes us better designers and people. The process of searching for candidates will seek candidates from a diversity of gender identities and racial and ethnic backgrounds. The studio is composed of designers and architects from the countries of France, Colombia, Ireland, and Mexico as well as collaborators that hail from New York, California, Florida, and Minnesota. There are five men and four women in the studio (and occasionally a dog name Zeo).
Climate Responsibility
Studio Modh believes that climate change is a real and immediate risk. Fabrication, construction and the energy consumed to heat, cool, and run buildings contributes greatly to human’s carbon footprint. Our firm emphasizes re-use whenever possible of existing buildings and actively educates our clients and contractors on methods to enhance and upgrade buildings to more effectively manage our carbon future.
Community
Studio Modh supports our immediate community of Prospect Heights, Crown Heights, Bedford Stuyvesant, and East New York through our pro-bono and reduced fee work. We have designed and executed numerous restaurant and café retrofits during the pandemic, designed a clinic for Housing Works in downtown Brooklyn, performed studies for outdoor learning for a high school in Philadelphia, and are in the process of designing grocery spaces for a non-profit in East Brooklyn to support multiple communities in need of fresh, healthy food options.

There are private bike racks located in lobby of the ground floor of the building as well as outdoor racks on both sides of the building.
